My 2cents. I prefer baitcasting reels for all my trolling. Tight line to longline. I mostly longline. Spoiled with high vis braid and I use a 4# -6# mono leader. Breaks off way easier then mono. No stretch. Sharpie to mark the 50' spot on line. Gives me a starting point. When I'm pulling cranks I move up to 8# -10# leader. I do wish I could afford to switch over to all line counter reels. I'm using my old green carp reels.
