I read in the paper that Duke was going to close some of the Wylie boat ramps. Is it that dry up there? We moved to Lake Murray in May and it looks like the water in Murray has dropped a foot or two since then. We haven't had but one really hard rain since we have been here.

I bought a new boat six weeks ago and then had some surgery that slowed me down some. I'm getting ready to hit them hard when it cools down a little. I haven't fished Murray a lot the past few years, mostly Wateree with Rango. I might have to hit Searay or some other Lexington guys to get me back up to snuff.
Brett.....I read a little article online in the herald. They weren't specific, just talking about the drought and low water levels.
It was low weeks ago
Worse now
Thumper the only thing I can offer is the Lake Murray version of the GPS coordinates that Brett has for Wylie. They will help you eliminate a lot of empty water. I went with a buddy Stiper fishing Monday at Murray. He likes to drift with herring so we did and caught absolutely nothing, not even a hit. We folded and fished for perch for a while and he kept a dozen or so decent ones.
We were down at the dam and around Spence Islands in 90 to 130 FOW.
Then I go to my Wildlife Meeting Monday night and one of the fellows told me he put in at Shull Island and trolled plugs about 25 feet down in 35 to 50 FOW and had two limits by 8:30. Then he and his buddy got a cooler full of perch. Just what I needed to hear.
So I am thinking about trying his method Friday. I actually do not fish much for Stripers, but might be worth another shot.

Searay...I used to fish Murray in June every year. We bottom fished between bomb island and the condos and could usually limit out about every morning. I would take a week of vacation and fish every day. The weird thing was that every striper was full of crawfish. We also fished in December around Black's bridge, casting with shimmy shad. That's about all I know about Murray. I need to get re educated real quick. I need some filets to drop in the grease!
