    Default Motoguide Xi5 Problems

Having problems with my Xi5 Motoguide staying on course. As you will notice in video there is no wind. Does the Minn Kota have this problem? It doesn't do it all the time but it is getting worst. Starting to think I should have bought a Minn Kota. Always been a Motoguide fan but a little disappointed in this trolling motors performance.

Don't have any idea about the Motor Guide but them and everyone else copies each other. With that said, the Minn Kota has 2 setting for the Auto Pilot, one works better than the other one, maybe the MG has the same. Neither are perfect but I wont be without a Terrova, haven't had a footpedal laying on the deck on my boat in years.
Good luck, hope you get it worked out.

Like Russ said there are two settings and I use the second setting to troll with as it seems to keep the track better. That trolling motor acts like it doesn't remember the GPS setting. You may have to take it to a Motoguide repair shop and have the board replaced?

Sounds like it needs calibration or repair. Not sure if Larry Browning works on MG TMs, I know he is a good Minn Kota TM repair guy. Check out K&L Electronics. He picks up and drops off TMs at Lake Hartwell Fishing and Marine near Portman Shoals. He will probably chime in on this thread....

My minkota did some weird things shortly after I got it. It would spin like Cary Fisher then work fine. MK asked how old my batteries were, if they were over 18 months they said that was probably the problem.
I put batteries in and it works fine. The boards need a full 12 volts to work properly.
If you have newer fully charged batteries I'd look into having it serviced.
    Good luck

When I had my J-16 CS on very windy days my MK would loose GPS and start twirling around but that doesnt seem to be the same problem youre having. Best to get it looked at cause we're gonna be fishing more windy days than not this fall. Something's going on with your Auto Pilot for sure.
