Finding fish
In the early part of the season January- mid march or when water temps are below 55 crappie are on the bottom or suspended post spawn. Crappie are in as deep as 30 ft or deeper and up to 10 ft of water. I've got a understanding of what to do or locate them? Flats that are close to creek channels? Now water temps are up in the 60s crappie are in spawn stage and in water as shallow 1ft deep how do you go about location or what to look for now?

The fish move back out towards those deeper summer spots (same as those early spring spots you mentioned) as the water warms. They will hold in the water depth and column that is comfortable to them. As with early season, rely on your electronice to locate the fish/bait. Yea, I mentioned bait as that's the food for the crappie and usually the fish arent too far away from their food. Method of choice for me is sticking with the longlining as long as the fish arent in water deeper than 20'.

When you know the crappie are spawning the shallow water is the place to look for the crappie to be. If you don't find them in 10 to 5' depth move in to the 5' to the bank waters. Docks in the shallow water and any other structure you find may be holding crappie.

Ok. Thanks. So next few weeks go back in the creeks start in 10-15 and keep going back in the shallows until I find them?then when waters reach 75-80 go back to where I was catching fish early in the season. Then when waters reach 80-85 try some dock shooting and deep water structure?
