Thread: Long Line Baits

Lots of answers can be true here. I pull a lot of hand tied jigs along with tied pony heads or Road Runners but at times a plastic bait works better so a slider or 1 1/2'' curly tail is what I use. After the spawn the crappie doesn't want as much movement in a jig so a hackle or marabou tail jig works great and so will baby shad in plastic. After awhile the spinners and curly tails will work better again. Colors can change a few time in a days time. So I have no one bait or colors, sorry but I did say there would be a lot of answers

I strictly troll Kalin curly tail grubs on 1/32 or 1/16 ounce heads. My favorite color is the one that the fish want to eat on that particular pull. Generally speaking, I think darker baits during low light to stained water conditions. Lighter colored baits during bright days and or clearer water. Also, the clearer the water the more translucent the baits I use will become.

1/16 or 1/32 heads and I like sliders the best. My favorite colors are junebug and acid rain. In the AWD baits my favorite color is Popsicle.

We like to troll with southern pro's triple tails and power grubs, Slider we use all year long, colder months we tip with live bait, as the water warms and the spawn begins we leave the minnows off and speed up a little. My2cents, if I"m moving so should the tail of the jig I'm pulling, most the time.
