What was the largest fish you caught fishing for crappie that was not a crappie?

Caught lots of big fish of different varieties while crappie fishing. Many big stripers up to 20 lbs., bass up to 9lbs., catfish into the thirties, thirty plus pound carp, giant gar, bream, perch. Some of the funnest were the big American shad caught in the St. Johns river in Florida while trolling. Nothing hits harder, or is more acrobatic when on the line.

    19 Lb. carp.
We were camping at Ebenezer Park on Wylie and I pitched my jig under an old abandoned dock. I had just started to retrieve it when I got a strike that almost pulled it out of my hands. The fish had run out the other end of the dock, so I handed my buddy the rod and climbed on the rickety old dock and managed to feed the rod around the pilings and out the side where the fish had run. He was still on the rod by some miracle so I got back in the boat and followed him to the middle of the cove. My buddy pointed to one of the huge McMansions that are on Wylie and we had an audience of about 20 folks on a porch drinking cocktails and watching us and pointing toward where the fish had run.
After what seemed like forever I finally got the fish to the surface and that is when I saw it was a carp that was foul hooked in the tail. How he stayed on with the tiny jig stuck in his tail and 4# test mono is beyond me. I figured if it had been anything worth keeping it would have long since broke off. We weighed him and put him back in the lake.

Biggest I caught and weighed was a 15 lb striper caught on a 12' rod with 6# Mr. Crappie Hi-vis line using a 1/16th ballhead jig with a 2" multi-colored southern pro curly tail body. It was a catch and release.

28lbs striper on 6lbs test and gold crappie hook. I'm pretty sure she hit the crappie/white perch I had hooked up, not the minnow I was fishing with. Still my personal best striper ever.

Last year I caught a 30.5 lb Catfish while tightlining a creek run. We had caught several gar that morning and a few crappie. I had eased the boat off a point that usually holds some big crappie and my rod tip eased down. I set the hook thinking I had a slab on the other end....much to my surprise it was a slab of a different breed. After a 25 minute tussell I landed the giant fish with the help of my fishing partner. Had I been fishing solo I would have never been able to get the fish in the boat because my landing net wasn't big enough! This fish was caught on a 12 ft crappie rod, 6 lb wally marshall hi-viz, and a 1/32th oz crappie jig with minnow.
