Sorry for you loss. I have had to send several to the rainbow bridge and know how hard it is. Having been active in purebred dogs for over 30 years, you get what you pay for. I know this is a hard pill to swallow but in my experience, by the time I have a puppy 8 weeks old, I have a considerable investment in that puppy.
Food, and food and cleaning supplies, Vet Check, eye check, wormers, first shots and veterinarian provided vaccination records to support it. Yes, my dogs are ACK registered and titled usually at both ends before breeding. There is a reason/logic behind it and although the titles are meaningless to many, the health, temperment and working ability of both Sire and Dam are indicators of the puppies potential.
Although you really want a puppy, many great dogs are available thru rescue and for those that are patient, many young dogs find their way to rescue as well. I foster rescue dogs and to date the youngest dog turned over to us was 9 weeks old and we occasionally get a bitch with a litter. My breed is Labradors but all rescue groups encounter the same scenario's. Good luck in your search, but reconsider your limits. And research both the breed and breeder as well. There is no breed that I know that does not carry a whole list of genetic related health issues that can be avoided thru properly researched and planned breeding.
