I also have been fishing with double 1/48's or double or single 1/32's and have caught most all fish in 10 ft water or less this spring. At what point of the year do you fish water deeper than 12' or run your jigs deeper than that depth? My plan was to run 1/16 and 1/32 if I needed a little more depth.

When i see fish that deep on sonar.

Two 1/32 with sliders get to 10' deep at 40' behind the boat at 0.8mph. thats about as far back as i want to be, so if i need my baits deeper than 10' i go to one 1/16 + one 1/32 or two 1/16 and adjust the backward distance for depth. Or if i have to go faster, i need more weight to get down the same depth at faster speeds.

Two 1/16 will run 10' at 20' behind the boat at 0.8.

I was just wondering what other longline fishermen think regarding rigging a setup with a single jig or a double.Obviously you can just 2 1/16ths and make the equivalent of a 1/8th in weight or you can just rig 1 1/8th oz setup.

I realize have double jigs potentially allows you to catch 2 at a time but I`m curious what others who are more experienced than me do.
Are you using a double set up?
    Single setup?
I realize weight /speed dictates how deep you can fish, as well as how much line you set out.
    All input is appreciated.

I use a single when around brush.

Remember two 1/16 will run shallower than one 1/8, there is more drag from the extra plastic bait.

I long line in Minnesota often, we are only allowed one rod and one bait per person. Plenty of fish caught on the single!!

Anyone longlining this time during late summer? I've been pulling crankbaits on my few summer trips with some but not a lot of success and plan to switch back to jigs shortly. I am hoping that the action picks up with temperatures starting to moderate.
