Attachment 196763caught fish in this area but not as hot as I thought it would be. What's y'all s take on this image
Looks to me to be a lot of bait hanging in that area. If you look to the left of center there are more bait balls showing.
First post here, but I saw the thread and had to post my pics.
These are two pics from jigging while ice fishing for lake trout at a lake up north. The hole I was jigging was ~80' deep with a massive school of bait. In both images, the left screen is a zoomed in picture of the depth i am jigging (you can see my jig) and the right screen is the entire water column.
Here, before the action you can see the school of bait and my jig below it.

Then after you can see the yellow line come through and break up the bait (the yellow line was a lake trout). Before this happened there were lots of lakers lying in wait below the bait and I was dropping jigs down and picking them out. I caught 2 of them before this picture when one of them just hammered the school. You can see me reacting raising the jig up as well.

This is the size of fish that showed up at that depth as that size mark on my unit (about ~20")

Those are some good images and well explained too. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the boards. :)
On my Lowrance FF, crappie generally show up as a "fuzzy arch". That is, a thumbnail sized arch with color line/gray line painted inside the arch. White Perch are usually small arches (not much color line) and holding tight near the bottom. Stripers and hybrids are usually "spaghetti" or "lightning bolts". I have a chapter on setting up and interpreting your traditional 2D sonar that many may find useful in the Fishing For Reservoir Stripers handbook. Tight Lines!
Welcome aboard vinsta25 and thanks for the post. Nice trout :ThumbsUp
