Humminbird Units Leaking
On the thread, 899 Not Turning On, a couple of us have had to send our units in for repair and have been told it is "water damage". I am floored that my 798 leaked while I fished in the rain. My electronics are removed from my boat and stored in my house and I surely don't submerge them in any fluids. I fished in the rain 2 days prior to my unit quitting on me.
With this concern, I tried to send Humminbird a question on their contact us page and ask if there is a rain cover or do I need to be putting a bag over my fishing electronics when the weather turns sour and I want to fish. I couldn't leave a question as the form said my email addresses didn't match (I copied and pasted from one slot to the other).
Does anyone here know what to do about water getting in the Humminbird units?
I bought an 899 this summer and there is no rubber seal around the map card door (my 798 has one now that I sent it in for repair) and I don't want to fish in the rain anymore. $250-$300 a pop everytime it rains will get a little too expensive for me.
I've attached pictures of the map card doors on both units.
