Humminbird HDSI Transducer Help

Need some advice. I just purchased the Helix 7 Si. It's going to be delivered within the next day or 2. Of course I'm anxious to install it and use it right away, but now I have found out I can upgrade to the HDSI transducer if I do not open the transducer with the unit.

Is the HDSI going to make that much of a difference or will I be happy with the compact transducer or would I be disappointed?

I asked that same question and was told it wouldn't make that much difference. I am no expert and my new Helix & hasnt come yet either

As anyone knows me ... I love xducers ...

I would buy the upgrade ... And keep the compact ... Just so I would have both to compare side by side ...

But to answer your question ...

The difference is noticeable ... More like marginally better (not like WOW better) ...

Thanks! That helps a lot. I think I'll keep the transducer and maybe upgrade later. I just didn't want to be disappointed if I kept the transducer that was with the unit.

Well, now I have another question. Does the HD transducer also improve sonar or is it just for side imaging?

The XNT 9 SI 180 T and the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T both have the exact same 2d piezo ...so the 2d sonar will be the same ...
