I've got a pair of Garmins, a 70DV and a 70S, along with the GVC-10 for side imaging and networking. I've been very happy with them. Accepting a refurb for a warranty replacement always seems like a crap shoot to me. If a customer returned it for intermittent problems, a service tech might not experience them and call it good to go. I understand having a bad taste in your mouth after your problems and wanting to go back to Lowrance. Hope what ever route you go, brings you satisfaction.

    thanks,
they actually fixed my original 840 and sent it back with a refurb sticker on it. (actually i never checked to see if it was the same one or not)
Now they are sending me a brand new one.
I doubt I'll open it, just put it on ebay and hope for the best.
I'm sure the brand new one will be amazing.

I guess I'm just too hard headed! I have played the jumping "to the new best thing" also and have found that my 1198's do everything that I need. No I don't always get ultra clear DI returns, but if it shows on 2d, then I'm fishing it!......sorry but I had to put my $.02 in on this thread!

    I see them for 2k
Heck , for that kind of money you could of had a Garmin and sent it back a few time for "tune ups"

You're quite a standup guy to still have your good humor with as much trouble as you've had with this adventure ...
