    Default Navionics + Chip

I just downloaded the lakes I wanted to put on my new Navionics + chip that came with my new Humminbird 899 ci hd si. The first disappointment was that the Navionics program said that the "community updates" feature of their program is not available on the 899 unit. The next thing that jumped out is that all the water depths appear to be in meters and fractions of meters. I looked at places that I know on the lake map where the water is over 30 feet deep and the Navionics map would show it as a "10" with a smaller number- say a 4- off to the ride side and bottom of the "10". I assume that that means 10.4 meters. Can anyone tell me if that is correct or how to get it to convert to feet instead of meters? Also, any input on whether I should be able to get Community Updates on my 899....

    Thanks

Community updates is a Lowrance feature. H/B uses the sonar charts. Not sure about the depth in meters. Check to see how your 899 is set up.

I Have not put the chip in the Humminbird unit. I just did the download to install the lakes I wanted on the Navionics + chip ( SD card) and was looking at them on the computer and saw they all are showing water depth in meters. I plan to set up the HB unit this afternoon and will select "feet" instead of "meters" but how do I get the "feet" to show on the Navionics chip when I am looking at my computer??

I just went online and down loaded the installer program from Navionics.com. Then , I picked some lakes and downloaded them, and then went to looking online at the lakes I just installed- have not put the chip in the 899 yet- and noticed all the depths of the water were in meters instead of feet. Should I have done something differently before downloading the lake areas?

Funny story. I got my navionics chip today also and updated it on the website and mine is in meters as well. What irritates me is the map on their website is in feet and I can't find anyway of changing it to feet. I'm been looking on the internet for a few hours for answers and have found nothing. I'll call them tomorrow and let you know what they say.

When you have the web page up, look down towards the lower right hand corner. There should be a place to change from meters to feet and kilometers to nautical miles.

OK, I took the boat to the lake for the first time to try out the 899. I installed the Navionics + SD card and was getting a mapping program, but I think it is the preloaded Lakemaster program that comes with the unit that I was seeing on "Chart mode". At least the icons of the boat and colors look exactly like the Humminbird owners manual shows the pictures of the charts. How can I tell if my unit is using Navionics + ????

Thanks for the info on changing meters to feet Shellback....
