    Ark

In the bottom of things like this you will find sediment build up (silt ect). You have less of a return and this will show as darker. What would interest me more is what was the water temp in and around this depression? Differences in water flow due to disturbed sediment and temp could give the return I'm seeing just above the depression (what you are taking for bait fish).

You may have just found a underwater spring. The only difference being that in the shots I've seen of springs the trail of higher temp water mixed with sediment is strung out more and they are mostly winter shots.

Slabbacks, next time I'm over there I'll check it out. That place is not hard to find. I'm thinking your idea is very possible. This being on a Mississippi River oxbow and the river falling, there are a lot of places where under ground water is coming out. In this lake we have found places like that before but usually the water is a little different in color around it and usually some bubbles coming to the surface. More that's once we have caught fish on places like that. We've made it a joke about finding some bubbles to fish

I have had folks tell me when they see bubbles that it is from fish. I asked, "What did they do, break wind???"

closeness of shadow to marked fish is only in effect with fish to the side of the boat (not in the water column)

The white fish in the water colum are about 2' up to 8'
