Default Question on SI vs 2D

This is a shot from TM unit showing bait fish in the 2D view but not apparent on SI. Shouldn't the SI have shown the bait fish as well? If not, why? Thanks

Whats the speed setting on the SI, it may just be behind. Speed setting needs to match the speed of the boat, you prolly know that but just first thing came to mind. I am learning to SI game and am using it to produce a few fish, that's the fun part.

No expert on this stuff at all. Just now starting to figure some of it out. Here is my guess, since the showed in 2d the more than likely we're directly under ducer and maybe because of that didn't get hit with the SI. If moving slow and looking for bait fish or fish I split mine with 2d and DI. That way if I see something in 2d I should see same thing in DI only more defined.

To me it appears it did show what was on 2d. if you look close at the side image theres a slight fuzzyness just above bottom in spots. i believe thats what your seeing in 2d. I really dont know but to me it looks more like sometype of weed??? I should probably read more of the sonar quiz's on here to better understand what the units are showing. this is just my uneducated guess

I agree...the echoes are there in the SI image...

If you had set the SI Range to a shorter distance..it would have shown up a little better...

Good job on frezzing the screen scroll before you captured the snapshot...

    Bait, weeds, plankton...I'm not sure...

    Looks more like plankton...

Thanks for the responses. These were definitely not plankton because we were in 13ft of water and could see the baitfish and bottom. If you noticed this was a snapshot taken from a recording and was paused after forward and reversing the play. I've since gone back and tried to duplicate the image and cannot so I'm guessing it was an anomoly in playing back the recording...something I've never noticed before. I don't think there is a way that something on 2D wouldn't show in the SI because of the coverage but those smarter than I might have an example...LOL

I have seen fish, brush, etc. in 2D and not in SI a lot of times.
    1. If your sensitive is too low in SI it will be hard to see in the water column.
    2. The best color for me if I want to see things in the water column is Amber or Amber II.
    3. 2D as was stated only covers 1/3X water depth if set to 200kHz, and 1X water depth if set for 200/83kHz. The SI water column is 1X each side of the transducer, so that area was covered.
    4. If I remember correct Chart Speed is global, so if you set it at 4 all sonar will be at the same chart speed.

    Just my $0.02
