    Default issues with lakemaster card

I have got a lakemaster card that I use with my 1198 and 898 and it isn't working right. I have it in the right slot and it did work fine on the 898 but I cant get it to work on the 1198. Then when I went out Friday fishing it wouldn't work on the 898 either. Both units have the latest updates and I cant figure out what is going on can somebody help me.

Does the "Loading Charts" popup window show on the chart view when the map card is inserted into the slot...??

Look under the Chart tab in the main menu system for "Chart Select"...make sure this is set to "Auto"...

If the card was removed or replaced while the unit was on, it could have been fried. A Fried SD or Flash is useless!

This is a new one on me...

I've never heard of damaging a map card by removing it while the unit was running...

I have removed the card and put it back in many times with no issues. The 1198 ask me if I wish to load map data but it only shows the water as ground with no contour or water. The 898 was working with it but now it wont even load the card.

Notice how on your computer you a safe to remove hardware icon. This is because, SD cards and flash drives have metal contacts that can arc and burn out a card. I know many do it, but it's not a good idea.

SD cards are just flash memory and as such are prone to failure. Although I have yet to have a map card die on me I’ve had many others that were used for data transfer die including some I’ve used in cameras.

If the LakeMaster card is not working now on two different units I would suspect that something in the LakeMaster card has gone bad.
