    Default One 9 Touch wish

I wish I could opt to have my 9 Touch view only the Botton 10, 15 ft of what I'm looking at on downscan.
Forcing users to view the entire column of water just makes what I want to see small and thus less detailed.
    Bottom lock with limited range.

I arrived at this after reviewing my sonar log and being amazed at how great it is when I restrict the depth to 10' and drag that 10' to the bottom. The details are so much better than what I see while idling over the brush pile and all 30' of water.
Essentially, the top 20', in this case , is wasting my images details.
    So, is it possible?
Does anyone make a good downscan that does this?
    Thanks

Yes, you can, but zooming in kills the sharpness of the image.
    It get all pixelated.

Humminbirds you can remove the top section if needed. Though, you would want an Onix with chirp to out do that touch 9, downs scan.

I have the same unit but have not had it on the water but 3 times, limited to fishing once a week due to work, and am to addicted to catching fish to leave the rods at home so haven't really messed with it much. I do know that the side imaging is going to take some getting use to. Not really what I was expecting. That's why I love the quizzes.

It's called the "Upper Range" setting in a HB ...(and it works for DI and 2d)..

Surely Lowrance has a similar setting...

Range adjustment starts at the top.
So you can focus on the water column. Give me a break

genec, my foreman at work was telling me the same exact thing last night, his boat is rigged with HB units. All he does is bass fish and the way he talks I guess fishes a lot of tournaments. He was telling me he could see the fish on 2d but not with his DI. One of the guys he fishes with has HDS 8s and a LSS 2 on his boat, my foreman says they can see the fish on the bottom on these units. He doesn't want to switch but is looking at installing an Elite 7X just for the ds.

Interesting to hear of this from someone else.

You may recall my rant on the 998c's complete fictional advertising on it's down imaging.
Thus, the resale and eventual owing the 9 Touch.
