My 2D images with 6.7 look good in 200 mhz. Not so good in 83 MHZ.
Does anyone have any pics of 2d from both versions of the software so I can see the comparisons? I havent even been on the water yet to try out 6.740 yet and it already seems like I need to re download the original version. ..
so after over 8 months since release of 6.74, has anyone heard of when we might get a fix on this software problem?
I don't like the fact that I have an I Pilot link that I cant fully use.
800$ for the link when 400$ for the plain pilot would be what I basically have now.
Know what you mean Short Grub! Why can't you use the pilot link?
I can use the I Pilot link in a limited ability or I can update to 6.74 and use it completely with less than acceptable screen quality display.
I will say this again Humminbird has come out with all of these new units and has done nothing to resolve issues on their old units.
And the new units have a lot of problems, now who do you think is going to get the fix first? we that have been waiting or the new problems.
I saw on Humminbirds web site where they are looking for a new software person to head that dept. in the company, so again who's problems are they going to fix first ???
this s very poor business practice sweeping old troubles under the rug, lets just come out with new equipment and make more money on sales with a product that is faulty also.
To me I sounds like basic GREED, sell sell sell who cares if it works or not
I have over 6000$ invested in gear from a company, that is acting just like any other big company in this country, its al about profit not quality.
lol so very sad
I see, Short Grub, faced with the same dilemma, I have chose to run the 6.74 and put up with the poorer image quality! I wish I could get 6.49 image quality and the link/HS gps compatability of 6.74!!
I agree it doesn't seem that we are very high on the list.
Like you I have $6000.00 invested in my current system.
Redge I'm sorry to be such a negative person, but this and other companies have caused it
oh and I was wrong have just over 7000$ invested in this system, but what is another thousand dollars it could be 10,000 dollars it still wont work correctly
Short grub.....first let me say I am NOT trying to stir the pot....just wanting to make sure you are up on all the latest about the software beyond 6.49
First.....is the 83Khz 2d exceptionally important to you? The reason I ask is that if it were me, I would just update to the newest software and use the 200Khz only for 2D while I was waiting for a final fix........I personally would weigh not being able to use the I-pilot link to be more important than the 83Khz.
Second, it seems to be the general consensus of people on the newest release that the SI and DI are actually better than 6.49 if the 83Khz is turned off.
Third, if needing to use the dual beam 200/83 for something like vertical fishing, you can change the transducer setting to dual beam and have good images.
I didn't go back and read the older posts on this thread, so hope it's not redundant info.
BobB you are correct sir, I don't use the 83Khz as it has terrible image quality, I did the install of 6.74 and as far as I can tell 2D, Si an Di are still no better, I think 6.49 has been the best overall, but I now have 6.74 installed and will be using it until we either get a fix or I can save enough money to replace all with Lowrance and motorguide products.
I wont be owing any more JOI products, if I could get 6000$ for what I own now it would all be off boat by morning.
I'm done with JOI products.
Thank you all for your help with this matter.
Short Grub.......believe me, I know exactly how you are feeling......not because of my HB units....I haven't had a reason to go to the new software yet.
I bought a new truck a number of years ago. For the first month every time I got in it, it just made me feel good......Then I started having problems that I had to fight with the dealer about. They somehow thought they could convince me that it was normal for a new truck to misfire when it was idling.....and it had a high pitched whine from the rear end at road speed.........After a lot of fighting, they finally fixed the rear end whine, but never did fix the idle problem.
I went from feeling great every time I got in it too TOTALLY PO'd every time I got in it. Even though overall it was a good truck.....I never got that good feeling back.
Humminbird needs to resolve this issue. It has gone on WAY too long.....Even though there are get-arounds.....there are a lot of upset people that may never feel the same about their stuff.
BobB my story is somewhat the same I agree, I have been a very loyal fan of Hummingbird for thirty years having owned HB units most of those years, and I understand that with new technology will come problems, but how long do we wait for something to get fixed?
And then to introduce new products that have their own new problems with out fixing the old products is just wrong.
if new automobiles have problems that cant be fixed easily they have a recall on said auto.
I will sit and wait for another year for HB to get this corrected, after that my equipment will be old and out dated ( at the pace they are going with new product release's and price drops ) and I will have saved enough money to replace my electronics.
thanks BobB for the pep talk
well I used the 1198 with 6.74 and everything went great except spot lock, it would not get back to the spot, kept me 25 to 30 ft away in a very light wind, once it took me 60ft away and just went in circles about 40ft in Diameter lol oh well, people in that cove thought I was nutz
Do you have the latest update in the Link?
yes sir I do
Short Grub I have had the same thing happen as far as going in circles. If I unplug the TM for a few seconds it will fix it. It happens once a month or so on mine. I have the latest software also.
Thanks Redge, it was almost fun and funny at the same time, but that shouldn't happen at all
Short Grub, I keep looking thinking they will come out with a software update to refine it's skill at staying on the position we have locked it on. I do live in Oklahoma, the wind will change direction almost by the minute, along with variable wind speed!
Redge I went out yesterday, Easter and again around we went lol as I was spider rigging, the good thing about it was I did catch my biggest black crappie going in circles.
I, just like everyone else want it to work as intended that's all, and with new units out on the market I know how old problems get lost in the mix
Short Grub, it is odd how a lot of times I get on the TM to swing off to another place and bam you get a hit!
