Is this maybe what you read Don...?
(and I don't think the heading sensor in the HB HS can be turned off...if it's connected and the correct software version is loaded, the heading sensor is "active"...)

Rickie, this is just one of the posts that I read:
I have found my HB units to be so accurate most days I wouldn't want the GPS puck anywhere but close to the transducer whether it be bow or stern. If you aren't putting it on the bow why have one? At least in the HB units the GPS shipped with it works fine for normal operation.
To try and make myself clear; I am a crappie fisherman that fishes brush & docks. I always use marker buoys. My TD is mounted on the stern & it makes sense to me to have the Antenna in the back, as close to my TD as possible so I won't be constantly subtracting or adding to find the BP.I care zero about an arrow pointing to a WP on my screen. I just don't see it being as accurate as a marker buoy.
I am receiving the Point 1 as a rebate item. I like the idea of an external antenna because my HB worked well with the regular GRP Precision Module(non HS). All I need to know is that the GRP-HS & Point 1 will work as a regular antenna?
