    I'm not sure about the Point 1 but the AS GPS HS antenna from HB has an "indicator" arrow marked on the puck with directions to mount the antenna with the "indicator" arrow pointed toward the front of the boat....(this orients the compass in the puck with the bow of the boat)...

    Is this maybe what you read Don...?

    (and I don't think the heading sensor in the HB HS can be turned off...if it's connected and the correct software version is loaded, the heading sensor is "active"...)
