Redge,
so you can see fish on structure with the 1198.
I can find tons of structure on my 998c, but actually seeing fish (dots, specks) on it is not happening.
What about scanning docks and seeing fish?
thanks for the earlier reply
QUOTE=Redge;2380847]Brettw I have a 958 up front, I run a 1198 at the console. In my home lake there is not a lot of structure. What is there, has been placed there by fishermen, and Mother Nature. I have had both units for a little over a year. If I am not catching fish, I will start using the 1198 to find some structure that has fish on it. After I see them on SI I will mark it and then go back with TM and fish it. Keep in mind just because the fish are there doesn't mean I can get them to bite! As far as settings, I have never really had to adjust much except contrast, and I do change SI colors depending on whether it is sunny or cloudy. Last but not least I have some good friends that run Lowrance, I think it is really a ford/Chevy thing as far as brand. Get you a good finder and start using it. I think it's all about time on the water! If you need more info let me know.
Best thing I can tell you is find a crappie.com member and go for a ride on there boat, and check the finders out in person on the water. Shoot if your in OK send me a pm and we will go fishing and you can see them in action.[/QUOTE]
