I thought it was a good thing they did with the new 998's, and it was about time. Wanna talk HB 360 and updates? Some claim that HB quadruple checks everything they do. Apparently that isn't true when it comes to software updates and the release of the 360's that are failing every day.

As usual, detail man misses the point.

And some people forget the slew of waterlogged Lowrance units!

Exactly Shellback. Some people forget the customer service issues with Lowrance too. Both are history. Those issues got corrected, and addressed. Now, every time you see a HB 360 post, it's something about the unit not working correctly and has to be replaced, or the software update has screwed something up. Seems like they should have delayed it some more until they quadruple double checked everything. I'd hate to spend $2K on an add-on, only to find that it's bricked out after a couple hours.

I'd like to know if the HDS the OP is looking at has LSS attached, or is he saying he can read the 2d on hds just fine and can't see SI on HB?

I've also experimented with the "Inverse" SI palette with good results....especially when looking for stakebeds...

Stakebeds really "pop out" on the Inverse palette...

I have had HDS for a couple years with LSS attached. Doesn't change the screen. I've never had an issue viewing it like I did with Bird.

The point is anyone can find flaws in any unit at any time.

Any person that that has to berate a product to feel good about himself or his purchases is in serious need of counseling.

If berate = pointing out real flaws in the company and products, then many are guilty and some live in the past.

As to the current state of Humminbird, there are issues, and those issues seem to be getting swept under the rug and not addressed. So as a HB owner, that should be a problem that you would want to be addressed. It's been pointed out by others on the other board, that employees and pro staff are avoiding the real problems like the plague.

If 5 guys bought a Lowrance product, and posted on here, and 4 of them had major issues and the units had to be replaced, that would be a problem for me and anyone else. If Lowrance releases software updates that screwed up settings on almost all units, and even bricked some units, that would be a major deal.

Now imagine if HB did it, because they did. There's nothing wrong with taking an "HONEST" look at things. That is not berating a product, that's calling the kettle a kettle. Would you rather the problems are not mentioned, and or posted are deleted or just simply not answered, so you can pretend it never happened? That seems to be what happens on several boards.

I'm trying to figure out how this bickering is helping the OP to fix or solve his problem and I saw nothing in the OP's original post about the 360's.
Some of you guys got to get over what ever is bothering you.
