    Default Extra long rod?

I've been thinking about an extra long rod 16 to 18' long to just stick out from the boat & just ease a bait straight down into brush in spring & straight down beside pole style trees. What would be the best style rod for this? I want something light that won't hurt the shoulder or wear you out. Seems like a cane pole style rod would be pretty good for this.

I owned an18’ rod for about three days, never put a reel on it. Put it together and fooled with it a couple of times and sold it to Rees guide in MS, and he was glad to get it. No way it could’ve done anything but ride a rod holder, very tip heavy. Don’t remember the brand.

I took a rubber bush hog shaft cover that comes on them when new & counter weighted a 16 foot rod to just stick out the front of the boat when i need to stay back & it works pretty good. I still may end up with a 20 b&m little mighty though.

I use an ACC GS16M (3-piece) with a micro Lews reel. Anything else is just too cumbersome, especially in a boat.
    I also have a B&M Diamond series 14 (actually 13.5) that I really like.

    I have the 16 foot acc & it's the one I balanced.
