Tumor
Debbie has been telling me this past week not to get outside due the heat advisory. Yesterday was 93, felt like 96 and I went to Kroger for the weekend specials on June 22nd. I finished in the self-check line. Got the groceries paid for in back in the cart. My left leg started shaking then a spastic shake. I had to sit down fast, which was on the bag thing. The spastic shake got worse. 2 managers and 2 employees came to my aid. One employee called my daughter using my phone, me knowing she was off, as both sons were headed for work. She stopped and got her daughter. One of the managers called an ambulance. That crew got there first. The shaking had calmed down by the time they got there. They loaded me in the truck and did some checking. Blood pressure 151/81. I calmed down a bit more by the time family got there. They loaded the groceries in the car while the crew helped me to the car. Granddaughter drove home and brought the groceries in. I dressed down and took a 5 hour nap.
Getting old isn't much fun.

June 23rd dinnertime I left my computer stool to start dinner, my wife is blind and can't help. The tingling started again. By the time I walked to the door 8 ft away I couldn't raise my left foot to the first step and my granddaughter helped me to my bed as well as she could. For 20 minutes my left leg was shaking out of control with the rest of my body fighting it, it won that battle. My granddaughter pressed my right foot against her leg and pulled top of foot and heel of left leg. Within seconds it was over. I took a 2 hour nap. My wife and I take a lot of medical drugs and she thought I might have over or under balance myself by going to a salt free diet. Gave me one of her pills for that. I was able to cook dinner and enjoy the rest of the evening. The next day I made an appointment to see a GP to get service started on the next Tuesday.

July 1st, my oldest son is headed my way so we can shop together. He texted that he was here and I headed to the front door to left him in. I made 3 steps before the shaking was so bad that I was on the floor. He picked me and we headed for my bed. Granddaughter had both feet as before. Son and grandson were rubbing/pulling on my left leg and my wife was helping me on the right side. Nothing helped for 45 minutes. Felt like an endless battle. It would slow down then start again. Son said 5 miles to the hospital and we are heading there now. But I see a doctor tomorrow.
He went in for a wheel chair with my driver's license and insurance card and told them I was having chest pains. I was pushed through the door and into an exam room. CT was ordered up right then, As soon as test comes back the doctor on the monitor showed us a mass on the top of the brain right rear. MRI ordered. Within minutes I'm told I have a tumor putting press on my left leg control of the brain. Less than 1/16" movement forward could give me a stroke. I'm placed in ICU for the night. 10:10 that evening my visitor was from the best head doctors group in Memphis. For an hour he showed me all the returns from both test. It needs to come out right now. He was great, left no space to question. I'm placed on heavy drugs to control the shaking.

The bad thing is we can't do this in Desoto County, MS. Have to do it in Memphis. He leaves to check on other things for the evening. At 9:20 am he returns with some news. I'm in a Baptist hospital. If I stay I can get a transfer to Memphis Baptist in 4 to 6 weeks. If I go home it could be 8 to 10 weeks. St Franes hospital is 7 to 8 weeks. He and his staff are working to get me somewhere fast.
Wednesday 11 am. The doctor says go home, come to my office and establish TN doctor patient relations. Friday is my visit. I'm told that Methodist Hospital can get me in on July 11th. Wow, 1 week away.
Within that week I'm preregistered for my surgery. We got to the hospital at 4:40 am and sign in. In prep room at 5 am. The doctor comes by, we have an emergency and will have a little delay on you. Debbie sat in one of their wheelchairs during the prep. Complained about it the whole time, it looks like a luggage cart from a cheap hotel. I told her to go back to the waiting room for a better chair and let other family members have some time with me, she didn't. I'm wheeled to the operating room at 11 am. Was talking away with the staff until that hot liquid was sent through the IV and I was out.
The last thing I remember from Wednesday night is a friend changed the photo on his face book page. Now holding 4 large crappie on his finger tips. At 4:05 pm I'm asked if I can answer some questions. His photo is the first thing I see. Yep, I'm ready to go fishing. Answered all the questions right and wheeled to my ICU room. It's across the hall from the nurse's station and I can't rest.
After I'm settled in the bed my kids came for a 45 minute visit. They washed their hands before leaving. Paper towel machines don't work, shared the only hand towel found in the room. That's when my inspection of the room of everything wrong started.

I'm suppose to spend 2 days in ICU and 2 days in stepdown.
Friday 3:30 am I get my first ride on the luggage cart for an MRI. Please let me walk back, can't do. 5 am, doctors are at the station talking golf. I ask for hot tea and honey. Had to settle for tea with sugar. Breakfast served at 7 am, cold. Asked for more hot tea and honey, sugar again. My youngest son and granddaughters arrive at 9 am with stuff I packed Wednesday. Ah, tea, honey and my glasses. 9:30 am the doctor comes by. Want to go home today, yes. Get me out of this broke down nasty place. Eat a meal and I'll release you. Breakfast was microwaved in the concession station and I gagged everything down. Son left and daughter arrived. Nurse arrived with meds needed to adjust my blood work, 4 pages. Daughter went after other things needed for the release. Arrived home at 4:20 pm. The trip home wore me thin and I took a pain pill and a 3 hour nap. I still have 59 that I feel I don't need. Debbie and granddaughter adjust my drug caddy for the week.
My granddaughter got a job at a vap store as the hurricane move through our area. The Mex restaurant next door had/has a black greasy spot entering their door. She slipped a bit and messed up her back again. She wasn't able to keep the pet's room clean. Pup's newspapers and cat litter was the first thing I smelled as I entered the house. Sunday thru Tuesday in their spare time my kids cleaned the room and a better/safer path to my computer/workstation/fish bench/reloading bench. Now I can keep a better eye on the pet's needs.
July 26th, a visit with the nurse to have stitches removed. My touching of them feels like 60# mono. Visit with doctor on the 30th. I hope he has time for my stories and get an update on restrictions.
My first time back at the computer desk I hear a perfectly times tic. I search all around the computer for the noise, can't find. Time to use the blood pressure monitor. I watch the scales and the tic is inline with my heart beat. Yep, it's echoing at the void left from the tumor removal.

My prayers are going up for you!!
-
So glad you're getting better. I'll keep saying a quick prayer for you.
-
Thank you. I'm feeling better each day. But a bit weak from the weight lose.
I found out today that my 85 year old beekeeper will retire and close business in 30 days. I changed from sugar to his honey in 2012. Make a cold tonic and use very little when needed, yep it that good. No doctor's visits or over the counter drugs. I buy 5 to 6 gallons per year. I have a half gallon left from the last purchase that he went up $50 per gallon. Wondering if I should get 1 or 2 cases. Other local beekeepers want double if not more for theirs and farther away.
-
Sleep is still screwed up. I went to bed at 10:30 last night, wide awake at 1:20 am. Tried to go back to sleep, gave up at 3:15 am. I'll get a nap later that will mess up my sleep again tonight.
-
Visit with doctor today. Hope to have a restriction or 2 removed. Got lots to talk about, hope he has the time.
-
Sorry you having such issues . We too have been through a rough patch . Getting older is not much fun . Prayers for you my friend . May God bless . +Cross+

No restrictions lifted but do what you can or feel like doing for now. Radiation and Kemo treatments starting soon. Visit with GI doctor being sat up.
Most specialist will send you back to your primary care doctor for anything else needed. Tumors are caused by cancer. He thinks my acid reflex might be connected.
-
Kemo treatment starts Thursday 8/8. Don't know at this time how many treatments I'll need. Yesterday I got a half truck load of ammo casings to sort through on my better days.
-
I missed the phone text to confirm Thursday's Kemo visit. Reset on Monday 8/12. I hate using my phone for this stuff.
-
Gi doctor and more test ordered up by Kemo doctor. The cancer test came back as could be colon cancer but stain color isn't a true match.
-
You are in my prayers . The medical profession can be quite confusing to us but not God . +Cross+
-
Visit with Gastro doctor today. Waiting on call back for when pet scan and scope visit will be.
-
I got a new drug Thursday for my acid reflex. It's not working either.
-
Radiation, gamma knife starts at 6 am tomorrow.
-
Prayers continued . May God's presence be felt every minute of your storm . +Cross+

Left my house at 5:30 am, I didn't get much sleep during the night. At hospital at 6 am, checked in a headed to radiology at 6:25. Prepped and shots in the IV, I relaxed. Cage was fitted to my head. The MRI table was better than any I've been on. After MRI was studied more drugs were added. The doctor said I slept 55 minutes of the hour long gamma treatment. Back home at 2:50 and slept the drugs off until 9:20 pm.
-
I'm moving round pretty good this morning. My head feels like it has some added weight to it. Try to do no more than I have too.
-
Talking with the Gastro One nurse Friday. For some reason they need clearance from my heart doctor before test can be set up. What do they do? Put the wrong doctor's name on the release. Guess Stern's sees the doctor's name on the release and sends it to him. Never looking at my name. I'm over a week behind on those tests.
-
The Gastro One nurse called today. Pet scan and scope visit 09/26/2024. Can call back daily, might get an earlier date.
West clinic visit was set up for 09/06/2024. The doctor needs the results from Gastro first. New date 10/07/2024. If needed, I'll try for an earlier date.
-
No update from Gastro One. Wish they would hurry. 195 lbs at Christmas, 129 today.
-
Last day to eat until after Thursday. Down to 124 pounds.
-
Wow, prayers for ya buddy
-
The drugs they gave me for the double scope were nasty sweet fruity flavored and super salty. I got 3 sips down in an hour and the last one came back up. Supposed to drink the 16 oz mix withing a minute. Then fill the bottle with water and drink it. I wasn't prepped for the lower scope so that will be another day. Wasn't prepped very well for the upper scope. The doctor said I might need a feeding tube.
-
Continued prayer and good thoughts. Hopefully your care team gets it sorted out sooner than later.
-
Praying for you canebreaker. Sounds like youre going thru a very rough time right now. I hope everything turns around for you soon.
-
I spent 5 hours today in the hospital for a feeding tube. Nope, didn't happen, the doctor chickened out.
-
The visit to West clinic on 10/22 looked pretty good at first. The doctor ordered another pet scan so he'll have a better idea of cancer I have to be treated. A port to be implanted on my left shoulder so I won't have a new IV every visit. New visit set up for 10/31.
Nope. got the call for the port yesterday for 11/8. Haven't heard about the pet scan yet.
-
Still praying for you CB. Many advances in treatment regimens these days so we are hopeful you and your care team can find the right one.
-
I have Esophagus cancer. Have had 4 chemo infusions and 2 more on the calendar every 2 weeks. I'm able to eat again in small bites and can't be disturbed while eating.
Infusions are on Monday or Tuesday, a wear on IV is removed 2 days later. The trauma of both last a few days, so I'm out of things until Friday and Saturday. I'm weak from doing nothing for the most part.
Be glad when it's all over and I can fish again.
-
Prayers sent . May you feel God's' presence as you go through this rough stretch .
-
Continued prayers for you canebreaker.
-
:pray:pray:prayMore going up!
