Prayers for you Canebreaker.
Prayers sent for you and your family Mr. Canebreaker.
I'm able to eat most anything I wish now, just in small bites. I made a pot of Red Beans and Rice Saturday and the first time able to eat cornbread without it being soaked in juice.
One more chemo infusion in 2 weeks, ct 2 weeks later. I'm ready for the petz tube and port to be removed when able.
December first I was down to 101 pounds, at Monday's infusion I'm up to 129. Still a bit weak from doing very little.
Continued prayers for healing and recovery from SE Ohio. You got this…+Cross+
Dang, 2 more chemo treatments in March and the CT will be on the last to determine if more treatments are needed. Feeding tube fell out while in the shower Monday evening and I spent most of the night in ER having it removed and checked out. Got to watch what I eat and very little again.
Yesterday's chemo infusion was much better. I didn't freeze or being wrapped up with heated blankets. The clinic was crowded but the staff was on the run. We got there at 9:45 and I was home at 3:10. I didn't need the saline drip this time.
My wife wanted fried chicken on the bone for dinner. We don't like KFC, Popeye's can't get our orders right. Gus and Bojangles has hot spicy that we don't care for. All the store and service station delis had their chicken cooked for lunch and on the dried out side. Church's is 18 miles into TN, they can't get our order right. Pirtle's is 19 miles into Memphis, they don't have crispy chicken, origan like KFC only. They have a good liver dinner.
My youngest uncle, 14 years older than I died Saturday. He lived at the gate to Cossar state park at Enid. Funeral is Thursday at 11 am. I can't go, follow up infusion at 10:45.
Prayers and blessings in Jesus name.+Cross+
Prayers sent in your behalf . May God bless those that care for you . +Cross+
Tuesday my son carried me to the Baptist East hospital area for tumor check up. All is fine, the doctor was happy I was gaining some weight back. We spent the rest of the day shopping. Went to a restaurant supply store first, members only so we left. Ollies on Germantown north of I-40, bought a lot. Farmers market on Germantown, bought some items. Ollies on Winchester, bought a lot of items not at the other store. Farmers market on Winchester, bought a lot not at the other store. I got home at 7:30 pm and was wore out. Granddaughter went after pizza. I had one slice and the gagging started. I've been doing good without having it. Since then everything I eat starts the gagging again. Will see what's going on Tuesday at West.
Hope today is my last chemo treatment.
Yesterday I searched the yard for snakes to drive out. None found so I had corned beef and cabbage for dinner.
Prayers going up!
Got to West clinic at 9:40 am. Called for lab work at 9:50. Called for CT at 10:05. Called for doctor visit at 1:20, he had to wait for CT results. They look as good as the last. Asked about the gagging last week. He ordered a gastro doctor visit for Tuesday next week. Up to 131.6 lbs, I blame the gagging for not gaining more. Released from infusion at 5:40 pm. No shopping on the way home. Added more cabbage to the pot then added leftovers and baked for 1 hour. I ate a plate full without any problems. 2 visits set for April, every 2 weeks.
God is good and merciful! +Cross++Cross+
Just found and read this whole thread. canebreaker, Our Prayers go UP for you, brother, I pray they keep you on the mend.
I think talking a lot produces a lot of extra spit and mucus in my stomach. The stomach wants to get rid of the extra and get more food when I eat. I spit up clear liquids, not food while gagging. I'm worn out afterwards and don't want to try to eat anymore. 3/19 the doctor ordered a visit with a gastro doctor on 3/26. I haven't got a call from any yet. I'm doing better eating, we might go fishing instead.
Feeling a bit stronger, I got out and did some work instead of sitting in the bed on the laptop all day.
I have a mountain of leaves in the yard, I tackled some of them with the lawn vac. 2 vac bags stuffs a 13 gallon trash bag. I got 2 filled Friday and 2 Saturday. Rain to start about 2 pm, hope to get 2 more bags before it's here. The lawn vac has some age to it and the port that the pickup tube fits in is breaking out in chunks. On the last bag about a fourth was spilling onto the ground. Less force to get trimmings into the bag. Had to stop a lot to clear discharge tube. Guess I'll look for a new one.
I've had the charger on the truck battery for 4 days. I tried to crank it, no go. May have to boost it off then head to the store for a new one. Wish I had backed it into the driveway. I'll have to back the car into the side yard, back the truck down the driveway then pull car across the drive. Lots of extra moves.
I check the stack of lumber under the portable carport. Weather had changed the coloring of so it will be firewood this year. I dug into the garage to get 2 12 ft eastern cedar boards from above the side window. They have a bow to them. The blocks will be 7 1/4" long. I'll cut 15" sections and run them through the planer before squaring and final cut.
I checked online for a 110 volt lawn vac. Home Depot was the cheapest then Lowes, walmart didn't show one. I went to HD and L, neither had a 110 model, all were battery or gas. I boosted the truck off and went to Advance for a new battery. Online check shows I need a group 78 but the space is limited to a group 71. Went to walmart for a little shopping. They had the Hyper Tough 110 volt lawn vac for $60. Assembled it at home and got 4 more trash bags of shredded leaves before time to cook dinner. 2 more trash bags the next day, now the side yard is almost clean. Got a ton of limbs, twigs and bark to pick up then rake/vac the leaves.
Been working on the 410 loading blocks since.
Next chemo infusion is April 2. I've been keeping myself busy and eating without any problems.
My ebay account was hacked for $509 and paypal paid it. I've closed both and have a dispute with them. Every few days I get an email or text wanting to arrange payment for something else from them. The lowest has been $360 and the highest is $780. The last time I used ebay was March 2.
SuperLo had 7 ears of corn for $1 in a bag at the reduced produce bin, got 2. Soaked them in water for 4 hours, pare boiled 12 for the freezer and 2 for dinner cooked in the microwave. Super large russet baking potatoes 79 cents per lb, got 6. Baked 3 for dinner in the oven. The over stuffed potato and corn was more than I could eat. It felt great to have a stuffed belly for a change.
With the removal of the feeding tube I now have 2 belly buttons as close as I can see. Still have a little drainage.
Got 5 blocks almost finished and 5 in C clamps glued together. See what I can get done before tomorrow's chemo infusion. I won't feel like doing much until Saturday.
Got my new debit card and changing it on a few direct pay websites. ATT gives me a problem signing in every time I go there, not very often. I can go from my email bill and get signed in, but it shows I don't have an account. I went there a few times last night and now locked out. Need to call and talk with someone soon.
I'm staying busy, eating all I can and can go a bit more before getting worn out. Feeling great again. Wish the weather would act right so I can go fishing.
Yesterday's infusion started with an IV needle applied to my port for lab work and infusion. Visit with doctor. "Man, you were almost a basket case when we first meet. 100 lbs at the first infusion, not able to do much at a time and look at you now. 136 lbs and jolly as can be." Doc, I think you, the staff and clinic for all that's been done getting me back on the road to recovery. "No, the thanks belongs to you, You could have given up before starting, you're pushing yourself to get well and that's where you're headed. The head doctor has you on a 10 lb lift limit restriction, maybe for another year or so. Talking with you and your son, if a package weighs 10 lbs you lift as many as you can to reduce extra lifting. You walk stores as long as you can before getting a wheelchair or scooter and finish shopping. You work outdoors as long as you can. You've started a project with your granddaughters and want to see it through. Others would say to themselves, I'm almost on death's bed, time to give up. That's not you!" Infusion started at 12:15 with 1 pint of saline then 2 packs of the chemo drug then a wear home pump with 1 pack of a drug for up to 48 hours. We were on the road to shop at 2:30 pm then home. After getting things put away I loaded the 10 bags of mulched leaves and carried them to my son's house for his garden. I started dinner when I returned home.
This was #10 infusion. After #12 I'll have a petz scan to determine where we go from there. The infusion messed with my sleep again. I rolled most of the night, know I was awake at 4 am and up at 6:30. A nap will set in later. Rain in the forecast to begin about 6 pm for a few days. Need to get outdoors to get some things going before then.
Prayers continued . Stay strong my friend . +Cross+
Sitting at my laptop trying to get over the infusion yesterday my pump beeped. What's it doing, still have 24 hours to go. The display showed pinched tube. I searched the tube from the port to the shoulder bag, removed the pump from the bag and searched more. No kink in the tube could be found. After listening to the beep for 5 minutes I turned the pump off. Waited 5 minute to turn it on. I pressed the start button, showed on. Release the button and it showed off. Well what the heck? I could have called the service number on the pump, figured I'd get someone I couldn't understand. West clinic is 6 miles away so I got dressed and head that way. The nurse pressed and held the start button close to 2 minutes and it was working again. "Wait here for 5 minutes before leaving in case it turns off again." I shopped about 3 hours at different stores on the way home. Sanded all the loading blocks, drilled out the dowels on the last 2 blocks. Drilled the 4 shell holes that split the boards. Cut the number of dowels needed. Raked and bagged a half 55 gallon bag of leaves. Rain ran me into the house at 4 pm. I fixed lunch and sat at the laptop eating. The pump beeped again. Turned off checked tube then turned it back on. Glued the dowels in the blocks. Thought about dinner, moved the laptop off the bed, turned lights off and slept most of the night in between thunders until 6 am today. These infusions do things like this every time.
Lots of rain here lately has shut down working under the portable carport. 2 blocks to sand again then all will be ready for clear coat. Rain to start about 10 am and last about 24 to 26 hours. Somehow I ended up with 13 tops and 11 bottoms for these loading blocks. Oh well, 11 is better than 4.
The infusion pump went off 12 times Thursday morning, reset everytime. About noon the readout showed Low so I get dressed and headed to the clinic then a few shopping stops on the way home. At one intersection stacks of old wood fence panels were stacked at the curb. I returned Friday with my truck to get some. The last I got from that community was western cedar and used it on a lot of projects. I had help loading 4 wide panels and didn't notice it was pressure treated until I got home. Oh well, my daughter will have some 50 boards for replacements on her old fence. I had plans to build bat houses, bluebird houses, bird feeders with the cedar.
The spillway gates are shut off at Sardis. Try to get there Monday to fish between the wing walls so I don't have to climb the steps or walk the rocks at water's level. Guess I'll work on my stool today for that trip.
Headed for another chemo infusion today. See what I can get done when I get home.
In the market for a cheap 410 shotgun. I'm resizing 303 Britt brass to 410 brass reloading.
My chemo infusion nurse was the one I've talked with about crappie fishing in the past. Being mine for the session gave us more time to talk. Her parents had to leave early after setting camp the last week of March and plan another trip soon. Told her of things I've made for tackle from what others think as trash, she wants to see some of them. The doctor ordered a Petz scan and upper prob to see what's going on with my esophagus at this time. Some foods give me a problem eating, still eating as well as I can. With weather being good I'm getting out and working in the yard more. Weigh was up to 138 lb this time.
A stop at Sportsman's Warehouse to see what they had for 410 reloading and tackle on clearance. Got a few jig grubs and a carton of Cheddite 209 primers for $47.99. Check gun owner's state site while eating lunch at home. CCI SPM primers at on clearance at a Grenada sporting goods store for $39 per carton. I called my son for a fast trip there. He got more tackle I got 5 cartons. A stop at Spain's grocery for their sales items then home.
I fought with this wear home infusion pump all night long. The tube got wrapped around my arm 5 times once pulling on the port/IV connection. Later it got wrapped around my chest twice pulling on the connection.
Slept better last night. The pump just beeped, need to get dressed and head to the clinic for it removal.
Yesterday stepping out of the house I saw a water puddle in the front yard. Looking closer it's the sewer line leaking at the service cap. (If your service cap is level with your home's floor it's best to leave it loose so it floods your yard instead of the house.) I have large trees in the yard and know there's a root in the line. After the chemo infusion pump was removed I stopped at Home Depot and rented a sewer auger. I'm not able to lift this heavy machine so it sat in my truck while I worked with it as well as I could. The auger ran about 10 minutes before I saw a bind in the snake and water ran down the pipe. I ran the auger another 15 minutes before pulling the snake from the pipe. The end was 6 inches from the curb in a line of where I think the pipe runs across the yard. Having Cspire running cables and marking underground lines 3 months ago helped a lot. I had marked the sewer line with green paint, water with blue and gas with red at the curb so I'd know where they are. I returned the rental and got busy in the yard instead of taking it easy the rest of the day. My belly has some pain to it today.
Friday is usually my grocery shopping day. With the sore belly I waited until Saturday and went to 1 store, Kroger, Interstate, Horn Lake. Last week Claussen pickles were on sale, they had spears and slices. We like whole and baby whole, cut to size we like and when, seems fresher that way. I looked again, same as last week. I spoke with the department manager, he got his reader and scanned bar codes. Suppose to have 15 and 19 each of the 2 and can't find them in the back. Cleared inventory and ordered fresh. They should be delivered today. Claussen sauerkraut was on clearance for $1.75, reg price $4.99, I got one for dinner. We liked it better than most canned. I returned yesterday for more. Some jars had 6/25 dates and some had 10/25 dates, got 6 jars with 10/25.
Friday night while watching the zoom auction from Senatobia I finished loading the 303 Britt brass to fire form for 410 shotgun. Haven't found a used 410 yet at a good price. Guess I'll order the Charles Daily 101 in walnut from Sportsman's Warehouse. Seems the cheapest I can find.
A stop at SuperLo for Frostie root beer, 32 oz bottle for $1, none in stock.
A trip out east to Hwy 309 to Mallard Limit sporting clays center. No to shoot but to pick up hulls. Got 2 buckets mostly 12 ga a few 20 ga and boxes. Didn't see any 410 hulls. I'll watch a few Utube videos on loading hulls without a press.
The wife is out of ginger honey crystals for her tea. I searched every store I could find, 16. Found it at the India farmers market in Southaven. I bought her a tin of Earls grey tea at Home Goods in Olive Branch, first one I've seen.
Monday at 7:30 am I'll be at West clinic midtown Memphis for a Petz scan. Plan to be at BPS east Memphis for a FTF deal. Might go to Ollie's on Germantown Rd.
Tuesday 10 am, chemo infusion at West clinic in Southaven.
Thursday about noon return for infusion pump to be removed.
See what work I can do this week.
I planned to cut bamboo for tomato stakes today. Checked chainsaw Thursday, cord will pull out about 6 inches and stops, like compression jams it. Guess the plants will grow good without stakes this year. A neighbor around the corner is remodeling their house, got a few 2X4's at the street, may try the post with string trick instead.
Prolly know this but does your saw have a compression relief button?
I'll check it out. It's a Stihl 290 farm boss.
My youngest son will drive me to West clinic tomorrow. I know he's been having problems with his truck so I cleaned the car for the ride. Got all but washing the carpet. Must of wore me out a bit. Went to bed at midnight, woke a couple of times overnight and slept until 10:20. Going to be a short day with rain in the forecast. See I can do indoors.
We got to the clinic at 7:15 so a little wait until the door was opened. A second car pulled into the lot then a 3rd, time to walk to the door. I was first there I was going to be first in the office. I got signed in and sat down, not long I was called for lab work. Got to sit in the lobby maybe a minute then called to start the Petz scan. All went well and released at 9:25. A stop for a breakfast biscuit and coffee on the way to BPS. Met the Legend from TNGO, got a carton of LP primers for $70 and headed home. Matt had yardwork to do so a stop at Ollie's was out. He told about using string on his tomato plants. We have to much wind at times, it cuts the vines. What I've seen on video is in greenhouses so no wind. Rested the rest of the day and evening.
See what I want to eat this morning. Infusion starts at noon, don't know why so late.
I got to West clinic at 10 am, lab work first. A visit with the doctor was next. I was given the printed report from Monday's Petz scan. "Negative study for metastasis" The cancer is pretty much cleared. I didn't have to take the infusion or wear the pump home. Return visit in 3 weeks. May go on a pill.
A stop at Sportsman's Warehouse for a carton of Cheddite 209 primers, Dang, they are moved from the shelves to the gun display. The $47.99 price is now $79.99. I'll be watching online for a better deal.
We celebrated the end, we hope to the infusions by ordering dinner at Texas Roadhouse. The 200 410 primed hulls were delivered while I was gone. Dinner wasn't to good for me, couldn't eat half of it.
Returned to West clinic yesterday for a visit with doctor. I'll have 3 pills, 3 of 1 in the morning and 4 in the evening, one of the other 2 at the same time for the next 2 weeks when I get them. Suppose to ward off the cancer if it moves to other areas of the body. Was told they can make me sick, limit what I do after I start them. Was told not to do work like using a screwdriver very long at a time. Avoid hands in hot water too, no dishwashing for 3 weeks. Another visit in 3 weeks. Better get outdoors and do all I can before starting the new drugs.
Almost a week and haven't got the drugs yet.
Finally got my pills yesterday. 3 locations for 3 scrips, Germantown, Southaven and Horn Lake. Start first round today after I figure out what to eat.
Prayers going up!
Prayers Going up for you...
Numb fingers and toes. Will ask the doctor today.
Visit with head doctor was Tuesday. The hole in my head is still there. Not as large as it was, filling in with new cells. No yellow dye from MRI anywhere in my head either. All looks great. Return visit in 3 months. Maybe 6 months after that.
Tuesday's visit to West clinic went well, they didn't keep me or send me to ER. All my regulars were on vacation so I saw new faces. Start the chemo pills for another 2 weeks. More numb fingertips and toes.
