ResellerRatings website has them as an 8.12. Click on the link if you want to go there.
I took a shot and bought one, checked out through Amazon and used my Amazon CC so I can return it or dispute the charges if it doesn't pan out, but for a $100 bucks it was worth a shot. I'll let you know when it arrives if I got a box of rocks or the FF.
The one in the ad does not have Down Imaging. It is just sonar/GPS. The 597 you paid $489.00 should be the 597 ci HD DI. Still $100.00 is a good price for a 597.
I stand corrected, That's a great price then. I hope it turns out to be a good unit for you.
Is it the 597 hd ci? That is what I have, would love another one for my dash. HD is missing from the description, does this mean less clarity?
Site says 640x640. Think that's the hd
Finally broke down and got one. Like I need it!!! I have at least 5 boats all with units. At least 5 decent units on the shelf. Still if it comes through it will be a heck of a deal. If not paypal and mastercard are gonna be tested.
Seeing as the next item down is the Humminbird 597 ci HD at $599.99, I suspect the one above listed at $95.99 is the basic 597. Both are listed an the same page. Results for humminbird 597 - Sorted by Best Match on Page 1 (1-20 of 40 Items) - OpticsPlanet
worth the 95 bucks if just for the gps if you don't have one onboard. BUT I figure they will come back and say they are out of stock, mispriced or sale went off 2 minutes before I bought mine. If something sounds too good to be true it probably is. If it is the old model still 640x480 ain't bad. Have an older fishmark 480 and til I got a 997 a few years back it was the best I had seen.
We are all Eskimo brothers
No more opinions on this?
So, what does everyone think? It looks like it is a 597ci non HD with no DI or SI. I looked this afternoon and now the price has gone up to $109...
with 640 vertical pixels it will have same separation as the hd. Just not as wide. Only 4.5 inches diagonally rather than 5. The site says 640x640 but a non-hd is 640x480. Still good resolution. It is lacking the max mode/clear mode. Don't know if an update might have added it but without it still a top flight unit. Unless we get a box with a brick in it, it is a deal. The 361 for 42 bucks is a heck of a starter unit. No gps but how can you go wrong for 42 bucks with free shipping??? the listed model number on the 597 is for a di model by the way. they have something screwed up. Wish they had a similar deal on an 1198 closeout for 159 or so. Just dreamin'.
we will soon find out. I checked my status and it says "Order shipped"
What's the inet address again? The previous trailer would not work. I have not been able to find it at that price on the Planet Optics site.
They must be gone. Says they no longer have them.
I ordered one too went to office max and bought a prepaid gift card to purchase it just in case it was a scam.I think this deal is too good to be true but for $95.00 it was worth a shot.If anybody heres anything on this please post it I will do the same.
Got a email that said sorry we were unable to fill your order, called them they said it was discontinued should have knew it was b.s
Mine still says order shipped
Mine said order shipped too hope you get it but its probably not gone a happen.Ordered mine sunday morning and just now got email.
Oh well it's not like I need it anyway. But if it comes I will have a spare.
It works and the price is 479
Ordered one on Sunday. I got an email today saying order has been cancelled. The price they have listed now is $479. Oh well..
good while it lasted. got home to a note that they were refunding my money.
I ordered the 597ci on saturday-then got an email that it was on backorder. I called today and they said i should get it next mon or tues-will see if their word is good.
Yep, this is a classic example of the bait and switch technique. I ordered two of them and got confirmation of order and an email saying it shipped yesterday. This morning, I received two emails saying the item was no longer available. I won't order anything from that site again!!
I ordered eleven of them....was gonna use one and sell ten......David ordered four (all his wife would let him order!)......Got email today cancelling the orders....dang......is that legal??
They probably should be given the benefit of the doubt. If they were trying to pull the bait and switch they would have contacted each of you and tried to up-sale you instead of just canceling the orders. I don't think anyone of you would buy something for several hundred dollars then sale it for a hundred.
Just saying.
Odd that they saw it was wrong and raised the price to about 114-115 bucks instead of removing it. As to buying for more than 100 and selling for 95...I don't know what they paid. Could have bought a trainload on a closeout for 50 or 75. Been discontinued so h' bird might have dumped them. I sell carpet remnants for next to nothing when my warehouse gets overfull. I just saw that they were offering them for 95 bucks. After sending info that they were no longer stocking them they reappear for 479. Seems fishy. But I guess I didnt need it anyway.
If it's too good to be true it probably is:)
What KDavid said. X2
