Disappointed
So the Butla thread that got locked sort of spurred this but it was in the back of me head since Thursday. I was coming in from fishing and beached my boat at Holiday. As I was walking to the truck a couple of older gentlemen in a mid 90's ranger boat asked me if I had my limit of 3 lbers. Now I know they were joking but I as I am want to do told them the truth. That I had my limit of 13 inch fish with a couple bigger ones thrown in. The one guy looked at me all crazy and muttered to his buddy " man fishermen sure do like to exaggerate." I just laughed it off and kept walking. After they left and I got my boat loaded a younger kidasked if I really had a limit and I showed him my cooler. He about died laughing at the old guys. I have zero reason to lie I catch a ton of fish and some really good ones some days. Why do people find the need to belittle their fellow sportsmen? A couple years ago when I was catching some sure enough hogs at Butla and posted a few pictures I also got the bashing of a life time like people don't know that place is full of big crappie already. Just makes me wonder where sportsmanship and good fellowship has gone now a days.
Rant over back to fishing.

Yep, get blasted for posting a pic of fish, and if you give somebody an answer they don't like, get ripped again. I've caught a bunch and had my feelings hurt many times, that's what makes launching the boat fun. As long as I'm enjoying myself, darn the rest

Spot on, I have no reason to lie about my fishing, fishing is fishing and all relative to the day and conditions. I have been bald face lied too but only on one occasion by that person, don't give em a second chance. If we are pre-fishing a tourney I'm kinda tite lipped till its over but I will not lie about it, just don't say anything. I help numerous people almost every week of the year through pms and text or calls and frankly I don't care who likes it and who doesn't. Fishing is about fellowship to me.

Yep...... I probably share too much info. But I enjoy teaching and learning from others. I've had several people accuse me of posting the same pics over and over. No I don't but they look similar because it's always the same live well or cooler lol

What gets me is when someone asks me what did I use and do to catch my fish and tell them and say I dont know what I am talking about aint no way etc. Any more I just keep my mouth shut and just say skunked and le it go or caught a couple and leave it at that.

What I noticed in this particular instance is that the very few folks that took offense to the photos via posts and private IM's don't seem to be posting any pics of their own... Hmmm.... There's an old saying on this board... NO PICS... DIDN'T HAPPEN !!! :)

Preach it man! As my pawpaw always said, the proof is in the puddin'. No pics, no proof.
Just because folks are catching fish doesn't mean that the mob is going to show up and out fish the entire lake, and leave it to the bass!
There are other ways to protect the resource and fighting amongst ourselves is not one of them.

Posting lake names and pictures is a bad idea in my opinion. But hey guys this is a free country and I'm not your daddy. You do whatever it is u want to do. I just believe there are tons of fishermen that decide which lake to fish based on the information they can find on social media and internet web sites. Crappie.com is one of the first sites that pops up when u search for information. These fishermen are not members here. There are thousands of these people. I likr seeing fish pictures and think you should share them when u had a fun day that you would like to share. But most times there is really no point in even including the lakes name. If someone wants that information they can message you here on the board and it would benefit the crappie.com members. There are a lot of good fishermen out there and Just because your not catching fish doesn't mean others are not catching fish. I kinda think most all fishermen lie anyway! Ha. I like helping people catch fish but I have said too much at times and had to start back over finding and patterning them. Anyway, I hope every one has a great spring and catches plenty of fish. And I hope u can share your trip on the board.

People hate to know that they went out and "fished" all day to not have much to show for it, but that's what separates "us" from them. I can tell by the way some people on here conduct themselves (and have pics) that they are true fishermen not just the guys that go to the lake on the weekend to drown a worm and tank up on beer. Most of us take pride in the way we fish and we try to put together a pattern, if your catching em in 3 fow on stumps that are just below the surface then you're not gonna move to the shore to fish reeds and expect to catch fish the same way. We overcome the obstacles and don't mind helping someone out with a little advice. But when someone wants to think I'm lying about what I say I've caught, I'll throw the cooler at their feet and let em take a peek, but they won't get any advice after they popped off at the mouth.
