I've used several methods and don't see a real advantage of one over the other. Most of what I use myself are bare and only occasionally do I use one painted. Eyes are something I do to occupy my time or test a method to see how well it works for what I do.I have double dotted and single, powder paint always used on the heads and cured first. Tried nail polish and different diameter pins, wire and drill bits and don't like it. Testors has been the most consistent and haven't tried the Rustoleum. I have tried spray clear and found it too messy and dependent on the weather as to how fast it would cure. clear sunny days and setting them in the sun was best for them and then they held up good. Baking them might have done better. Sally's worked well and was durable but I only got one stroke to apply and then it would soften the eye and i would smear with the second stroke. I have a two part epoxy that I use as a clear coat when I paint cranks that I used last year and will use it from now on. Tough, easy to work with and doesn't cause the eye paint to soften. That's just my added two cents.

And by the way Grumpy, that's a great looking jig. Like the colors. I bet Steve does a lot of testing for you.
