Just one of several from last spring. I love to crappie fish, but shellcrackers are my speciality.

Nice fish!
Those are some hawg 'crackers!
Very nice mess of fish, I see you already have a big bunch of fillets in your sink under the gills in the last pic.
This isn't a Monster compared to all the other Big catches I have been seeing on here but its pretty good size for around here

Ahhh.... Beefy!!!!
Awesome fish!!
My wife and I caught a mess of redears and gills on 5/09 on the LBL side north end of the lake. Here is one of the hawgs! She measured right at 13.50" in my Frabill Crappie cup but she was a very snug fit. I din't have to pinch the tail to get the length! LOL
Caught 12 of these from 10.5" that morning along with some great gills and so many 12" to 15" catfish we had a fry on Saturday to get rid of em! My elbow is just out of the shot. Wifey did get the fish in the picture though:Rofl

WOW....thats all I can say. Did you catch those in Virginia?
Regards
Kitt, if you were using light tackle, i'll bet you had your hands full with those....
Yes in suffolk, VA. Oh yeah little ultralights with 6 lb test. It was a blast.
Is that the Northern strain bluegill?
Regards
Red ears. They had very dark coloration. Some of the fish ive pulled have been the typical golden yellow. And others dark green and black like these. They were alive in the pictures, i let them swim again.
Some of the characteristics look to be bluegill x redear....
Attachment 126787Attachment 126788Big Barkley Lake shellcrackers we caught a couple of weeks ago. These fish were all close to two pounds apiece.
Nice fish! I know they are bigger than they appear in the picture judging by the size of your fist and the fish. Pretty work.
Thanks Kitt, they were between one pound ten ounces and one pound fourteen or fifteen ounces. Your fish were easily bigger than these, GREAT FISH Buddy. I am proud of these fish though and would've mounted the biggest if it had just been two pounds but came up an ounce or so shy. You're in a GREAT spot on those Suffolk Lakes too!
Nicely done Bigdoc - Great color too :ThumbsUp
14" is now my longest but it only weighed 2 lbs. It was one of 10 over 1.5 lbs that day.
Sorry about the upside down pic. Can't flip it on this iPad.
