    Default Knot ?????

My dad used to tie a 12 in line on to the main line so we could have 2 hooks in the water when we bluegill fished. Any one know what kind of knot that was?? He's been gone for 9 years now and I still havent figured out how to duplicate that knot. Thanks for any suggestions.

One option: tie a BIG surgeon's loop (say, 2 feet long.) Then cut the loop wherever you like to create a dropper off the main line. For example, if you cut the loop 8" below the knot, you'll have an 8" dropper with the rest of the main line below it.

http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfi...matedknots.com This is an awesome sight about knots and their uses. best thing is you can select a knot and follow a video of how to tie each one. Spend some time clicking around theres alot to do!!

Or you can use the palomar to tie on the higher hook and make sure you leave say a 14 inch tag end length, then tie your 2nd hook to this 12 and hooks will be 10 to 12 inch apart. Very good knot chart Sundrop, I have used it many times.

When I'm rigging two hooks on a line, I like the dropper loop - they show it on the page that Sundrop gave the link to. The reason I like that particular knot, is because it tends to hold your top hook out away from your main line, keeping it from getting tangled.

Clear tubing like surgical tubing can be used to slip over the line to make a firm shank to hold a hook away from the rig as well. I have done this on bigger cat rigs and squirted a paste of shad oil and crackers into the tube for attractant. Might be too bulky for a sensitive fish like crappie. Havent tried it.

You can always tie in a slip loop knot (also know as a dropper knot) and add what ever you want to it. I set up for crappie fishing like that. It adds another minnow to the pond. It makes it fun with two big slabs on at the same time...
