I like to use small weighted floats. 3/4" round float with my 1/48 and under hand ties and a 1" weighted pear float for jigs in 1/32 to 1/24. I tip them with pieces of Berkley power wigglers or a live waxworm. Favorite jigs are tied with duck feathers or rabbit hair in hook sizes from a #10 to a #6. I tie a lot of jigs and these are my go to baits. Rarely use soft plastics.

His jigs catch fish no doubt I have and use them and they are DEFINATELY one of my hand tied favorites. But personaly have proven time and time that scents make a difference and my tried and true performer is a semi dried out crappie nibble. Scott
