Hard to beat a crème tube jig in black chartreuse or red chartreuse.
usually I use a 1/24th or 1/32nd also usually use a #7 split shot about 15” up the line while usually doing a steady twitch as soon as it hits the water back to me.

Too blessed to be stressed!
Ive used several floats but like a small torpedo looking one with a light jig. I don't use a split shot like prowler spoke of all the time. Sometimes the slower rate of fall is the ticket. Casting distance without the split shot suffers sometimes but I've done well so far. The stick floats work well when a heavier jig is needed. During pre spawn a 1/16 jig of your favorite color under a stick floats works very well. Good luck with it.

for years i have been using a mop /fly jig . 1/64oz with a knub from a car washing mitt tied on. tail should be the with of hook gap. used it this week in northern wisc under a bubble. i get my jigheads from chuck n deb in ohio no color in head but mop color of medium blue produces best

Why this mitt stuff, what are you trying to imitate? Also , blue?
Dont think that I have seen a blue mitt. thanks
Chan..been fishing jigs, under floats, for 35 years, at least. I do not think color matters.
Jig size is key, tho. The fall rate, depending on water depth, usually determines jig size, for me.
Dress the jig with whatever you want, live bait, or artificial. Also, my float of choice is an Adjust-a-Bubble.
I use a 9ft-10ft rod, and can fish easily to 10 feet deep. After that, I simply cast the jigs.
most mop items sold are blue or yellow/green they are dusters, dust mops for floors. dollar store, menards, etc. my buddy makes small flies with the rubbery legs of a kids toy. the wee wiggler. his fav color is blue .i tried a blue mop and its been 5 years at least. it imitates a grub .

I like to use small weighted floats. 3/4" round float with my 1/48 and under hand ties and a 1" weighted pear float for jigs in 1/32 to 1/24. I tip them with pieces of Berkley power wigglers or a live waxworm. Favorite jigs are tied with duck feathers or rabbit hair in hook sizes from a #10 to a #6. I tie a lot of jigs and these are my go to baits. Rarely use soft plastics.![]()
