I took off this morning headed to my favorite creek fish location, the old mill creek .
It’s been a couple weeks since we had some good rain and I was hoping a rise in the creek allowed some new to replenish the fishing holes that are so easily accessed and fished hard .
I also had hoped the water level would be higher.
The water level was as low as my last visit , so my hopes were shot .
I decided to give it a try since I was already there and the only fisherman.
I started off with a micro jig on my 4’11” Graywolf fiberglass rod and Shimano Soare XR500spg combo .
I caught one small redbreast and a little five inch largemouth.
I was about to leave when i decided to give my 6’6” Gremlin 2wt flyrod a try with a white rubber legged spider.
Seventeen mostly small redbreast and bluegills latter , I decided to change spots .
The creek redbreast even though they were small, were a lot of fun on the two weight flyrod.
I left after about 45 minutes and decided to see if I could find some shade at lake McIntosh .
My two best creek redbreast .
I’ll post info on my lake trip below .
