A different thought, fade. Almost all of my rods that I use a lot has Varivas braid and some of it doesn’t have the color that it came with. I haven’t noticed the strength going away with the color on any but one. I think the fade is more from water and use as I don’t store my rods in the boat unless I’m fishin the next day. More than that and they’re in the shop in their racks. What I have noticed is the copolymer leader that turns to a pigs tail when I stress it hard snatching a jig back out of a bush or something. Might be fluorocarbon, dunno. I do know that my 4lb mono leaders do better for me than most anything else.
