These days the word microfishing gets tossed around a lot, especially by video/fishermen on YouTube, I feel it’s somewhat diluted. To simply put the Japanese who introduced the very idea, when out microfishing, target specifically for fish species when full grown are not much bigger than 1 to 2 inches such as Darters, mosquitofish, Molly or their Tanago. What they considered trophy would be the smallest fish that is no longer than the width of a dime! Now that we are clear what it is let’s move on to the fishing story.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of NOT micro fishing but catching many micro-size fishes because at this time of post spawning, there are literally thousands of baby fishes can be seen around docks hiding and just simply trying not to be eaten by the adult fish. It’s a fun time every time when I simply not pressured into chasing bigger bluegills or green sunfish and just enjoy watching them hitting the bait once lowered into surface. Couple species caught including my first ever smallest channel cat taken on a jig/fly. Enjoy the pictures and tight line!
