Pumpkinseed that is! Yesterday after work I stopped by a little pond across town and fished for a about an hour using but a little split shot and couple flies hope to entice a few takes. Upond arriving I could not believe in just a few days between visits the vegetation had practically overtaken the entire surface but a few pockets of opportunities. Our local ponds was known to have bluegills, green sunfish and redear sunfish stocked long ago but I’ve never caught the latter. With this many species in such small confinement one wonder will there be hybrids to be caught? And I have, including yesterday’s colorful specimen. Total fish caught was 5 green sunfish, 3 little bluegills and the said cross- specie. All online searches point it toward a cross between pumpkinseed and green sunfish. I didn’t know or read there’s Pumpkinseed was introduced to Southern Nevada but have read they were caught in reservoir near Northern Nevada, Reno area. Any suggestions? Cheers!Name: IMG_7464.jpg
