And occasional pier fishing California all with light or ultralight tackle...

Hi, Gillfishn as matter of fact i've read somewhere the "London bridge" state seems to hold one of the biggest redeared sunfish record. And also at another reading that HOA and a whole bunch of land owners were creating havoc for anglers (or was it the other way around..lol), but nonetheless its taking the fun out fishing for someone like me who doesn/'t own a boat. Unless a member of the forum knows a good accessible bank near spawning bed, it be just like lake mead all over again...plenty of hikes little to show for! Most members from BigBluegillfishing.com or Texasfishing forum all know the "Honey hole" of bluegill hangouts but i've yet attempt to ask fearing for the obvious answer gonna be. I might just bite the bullet and hire a guide on my first visit...thanks.Quote:

Well I used to be very hard core when it comes to fishing for striped bass years ago and I did use those long rod (my old Cali surf rod) a 10 ft Fin Nor purchased just for striped bass fishing by the Delta and San Mateo beaches. Same here. It's all too easy to forget what I caught, when caught (month) and what I caught it on. I hate those big question marks that pop up - now more than ever at my age - about the past and photos don't lie as they fill in the blanks of memory that occur all too often. Photos tell me what was and what IS possible or reliable when it comes to the hundreds of lures I modify or make and it still amazes me at times to see which actually worked!Quote:

In case anyone cares. I caved and ordered the Kuying Teton last night that was mentioned and shown in the first post. It is a cool looking rod and after reading and watching several reviews, I think it would be a good rod to throw 1/64oz Trout Magnets and other tiny lures. Maybe even those 1/200oz Mini Magnets. It's rated for 1-3g so I'm hopeful. Only downside is that the scheduled delivery is supposed to be sometime in October lol.
Spoonminnow, my age is to blame also for me not being very affective these days in chasing bass and catfish in my own home water, lake mead..lol. The legs just won’t take it! I also want to take the opportunity to commend you on helping others( a girl and her mom) to see the light if you will when it comes to using the right lure and with right technique to catch any fish- read a thread you started in the main page:), and sorry about what happened to your tackle box!
