Something I found out the hard way is to set the drag on any rod you shoot with to slip when the rod gets to 90* at most. This helps keep from snapping the rod by overloading it. Some of the lower end rods tolerate more bend but I’ve broken a few so far. You’ll get the feel for whatever rod you use and what it will stand. Best presentation I’ve found for the tree choked banks I fish.
I never really thought about shoot jigs under/around trees and brush. I have always just kind of pitched it into tight spots. I have only done a little sick shooting for crappie. I think I will try shooting some trees for bedding readers this spring.
