We’ve all done it.....caught the genetically mixed bluegill. Well today I experienced something that was a first for me. I found a bed that had shellcracker.....mixed gene sunfish....northern strain bluegill.....and redbreast....all in same big bed. While the majority of these fish were around the 8 inch mark I ain’t one to leave biting fish to find bigger fish......at least not until my fun time was up....then I might go hunting bigger game. I stuck 75 of these mixed bag of sunfish off the bed at the base of the tree you see in some of the pics. After I did that I decided to do a little side scanning to see what I could find. I got lucky. I stumbled up on another bed of shellcracker! When I told myself I had to get home I had stuck 50 shellcracker off the bed....most 9-10 inch fish. The fish today were heavier than what I got into the other day.....just a thicker fish. I used the Fine Tail Banshee Area Trout Rod Super Ultra Light 6 foot model again with the 2.1# test ester mono and a 1.5 gram jig head....sometimes with a #8 hook and sometimes used a #6 hook....and a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet. To say I had a ball is an understatement. Once again I had to leave biting fish.....I didn’t want to go but had to. I have been very blessed this spring. Video will follow in couple of days.

Darn nice fish! Can you do a video on how you rig the trout magnet, how you actually fish it, and just a general rundown on how to approach fishing with it.
I tried today using the Sow Bug TM and got several bumps but struggled to actually hook up. I think I was using a 1/32 jig.
Great day!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Great job
Awesome day! Congrats!

Excellent report & fish. Don't know how you do it Randy - 3 hours is good for me, more then 4 - I'm dragging.
very nice day
Thanks much......I’m dragging too.....LOL. While there is really nothing wrong with me health wise that is serious....the arthritis and need of a couple of joint replacements are making it tough. I get up and force myself to hit the road each morning. Once I get to the water all is OK. But fishing 2 days in a row is tough.......and 3 days in a row puts me out of action for several days. I have been following a smallmouth guide of some note for about 30 years. He more or less did his last fishing report yesterday. As he said he can no longer be on the water 3-4 days a week and he feels that because of that needs to give up his reports. He is still going to fish once a week but his reports are done. I guess we all get there sooner or later. Your hot weather is approaching.......so is mine but it’s not as hot as what you get. I can’t believe I took that kind of heat in Saudi for 21 years. Just wonder how I’ll handle the TN heat this year...LOL

It is getting better! I went today and sore lipped a bunch also. That first Cracker picture is a nice one, wide and long. I have caught two of those species off the same bed, Red Breast and NS Bluegill. However, that usually happens on the June Full moon spawn when the waters are even warmer than they are now. I am assuming the mixed dude is the barred looking one without the red spot on his opercle. That is actually a pretty looking fish. I couldn’t get a hit on the TM or the Bead Head jig today, went to a Lunkerhunt Grub and started getting bit. The Corto and Triple Cross are the seeing all the Gill time, then I pick up the X-Ride and it feels like a telephone pole after using the others. I like them all, and plan on switching some of the lines now as the fish will go a little deeper with the warming waters. I am not fishing the cold weather/ cold water shallow creeks anymore! Look forward to the video, as always.
