    well different locals have different nicknames. im from up north originally and we used to call warmouths rockbass also. we didnt actually have rockbass and the nickname stuck to warmouths cause they like living in thee rocks its same with other fishes. down southintexas we call cobia- ling. but up north a ling is a type of cod. get what im saying

    I did not know that. I'd always considered them both the same. I learned something today. They look even more similar.....after their battered & fried!:D
