Thread: New Rods

Today , I got the first of three new UL rods I’ve ordered .
Sorry no expensive JDM’s .
Today the USPS worker threw my new rod on the front porch . I heard it hit the porch from upstairs while watching a fishing show on TV . Luckily I ordered from Swanson’s Bait and Tackle , knowing it would arrive safely packed in a hard cardboard tube .
The rod is a St. Croix Trout Series 4’10” UL. A short one . Sometimes I go back to my roots in UL and fish with short rods . I paired it up with a Shimano Symetre 500 loaded with Viscious 2# line .
If the thunderstorms let up today , I’ll drive up to the town pond and see if I can slim it .
The other two rods I have on order are at the other end as far as length go , I’ve ordered an UL 8’ Berkley Lightning Trout rod , and a light action 7’ Berkley Lightning Trout rod .
I still own a couple of old UL Lightning rods , five footers that have served me well , including one of the ones with the EVA handles that bends into the grip with almost every fish I catch with it .
I have nothing against JDM rods or the folks that love them . But , you don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy UL fishing . Gillchaser
