I usually go with a bigger reel with a longer rod to help with the balance . Right now looking at a couple Daiwa Crossfire 3000’s I picked up . I’ll need to fill the spool about half way with some backing then finish filling with a couple hundred yards of 4# Silverthread or P-line .
I’ve got some one pound spools of BPS Excel line I picked up cheap I use for backing . A one pound spool of 4# Excel is 11,400 yards . Gillchaser
Edit: I went ahead and filled the Crossfire’s , one with 6# Excel and the other with 4# Excel . Excel use to be my go to line , because it was good cheap line and I could change it out as often as I felt it needed it .
