I generally throw the same thing at them as I do crappie, which is 1/32 (#6) and 1/16 (#4) oz jigs. Mostly 1/32. Tubes from 1.5 to 2 inches, sliders, hot grubs (2"), BGBS, etc. Slider head (1??) or open jig. Not doubting anyone on the smaller is better, this is just what I throw. Don't seem to have any problem sticking bream. What I'm throwing can't be more than a small minnow would be. I agree, their mouth gets bigger than you might think.
