    Default Jigs for brim

Hi all I was wondering if anyone has some information about using jigs for brim. I know the mouth on a gill is pretty small but personally I get frustrated when I get to the bottom of my worm box and have nothing else to throw out. Can you use a regular size jig (1/16 1/32) that you'd use on a crappie?

1/32 will work, but 1/64 is much better, IMO. I mostly use trout magnets, but any small jig will work. Small marabou jigs are great.

Just count it down and swim it back slowly.

Tip a 1/16 or 1/32 with a piece of Gulp crappie nibble ,or a bologna chunk , I've even used a small piece of white string. Usually if I run out of bait, it's time to go home.
I thought fish trembled when they heard my name.......then I heard the laughter

I might try a 32nd I would've thought it was a little too big for a little bluegill mouth

1/32 road runners and 1 inch solid black slider grubs are my go to . Actually caught my best redear on a 1/32 roadrunner a 2 inch pink/white slider . Stren original clear blue fluorescent line completes the set-up. Name: beast ..jpg

Now that's a pig of a shellcracker. I guess that's all the proof I need 1/32 it is.

I use 1/64th and trout magnets or any small 1" - 1 1/4" plastic grub will work fine as well as a dark hand tied jig.

I use a 1/16 jig head with a crappie magnet on it. Blue gill can get their mouths a lot wider than you think.

I've caught thousands of Gills....shell cracker....on a 1/64 Trout Magnet. Bottom line......micro jigs and light line will put a lot of panfish in the boat.

I love to fish the 1/32 and 1/64 thread neck kiptail jigs tipped with a crappie nibble under a tiny float most the time but I once cleaned house on a bed with a 1/16 jighead and a 2 inch kalin triple threat grub, black blue and chart, and they were eating it so a lot depends on how aggressive they are, you need plenty of different weights and sizes in your box, as well as crappie nibbles.
