    i used to use a long pole for that with about 24 inches of really heavy mono on it ......
    of course if a 5 lb black bass hits it will most likely dislocate your arm .....
    but the jigs come back to you most of the time ....

    When I break off the only thing I lose is time retying. Maybe 2 cents a jig. I have to ask. Are you using Tungsten weighted hooks? What makes them so special? Now I am very protective of my bobbers. I use a Thill that can be used as a slip or a fixed bobber.
