Obviously you have done your home work, and are being rewarded well done..just wish that up here in my neck of the woods I had fish of that caliber..envy..

Thanks.......These JDM rods are great. I am well aware that one does not need a rod like this to catch fish....I wanted some high end UL rods and got into Japanese Domestic Market fishing gear. A word of caution for those that go down this road. I was warned before I bought my first JDM rod that I would never want a USA domestic rod again. They were right. Once I fished with JDM rods there was no going back for me. They are a very expensive habit to have. This particular rod is an Tict Ice Cube Rockin Drift 6' 9" Mebaru Rod. The top section of the rod is solid graphite. They are made to fish for tiny salt water fish using micro plastics. Sensitivity is the major objective of these rods as those fish bite so light it is difficult to detect. To say this rod is sensitive is an understatement. I bought this one to fish for Gills and crappie....that was the main intent for this particular rod. I have however landed a lot of Smallies on this rod over 20 inches. While the tip looks fragile it is as tough as nails. I have also landed several limits of black nose crappie out of Center Hill Lake in the 14-15 inch range with this rod and it has performed flawlessly. All the guides are Fuji titanium frame with Fuji Torzite ceramic inserts. The tip on this rod is only 7mm diameter.....pretty darn small next to a tooth pick. The rod weighs in at a mere 2.4 ounces. I have a few other brands that I use for UL cranks.....and one that is rated for 2-6 pound test line that is perfect for white bass fishing. Again I am not trying to push these rods on anyone. There was not a ton of info on the JDM UL rods when I started my research last December. There was a ton of info available from large mouth fisherman here who buy JDM rods but that was not much help to me as I don't really fish for large mouth. These JDM UL rods have taken off in Europe....the former Soviet Union....Australia/New Zealand....and South Africa. The price range for a decent one starts at about 150 bucks and goes up to 400 bucks. Hope this has shed a little info on the rod.

My main line I use is 2# test SOS line made by Trout Magnet. For the money it is hard to beat. But I have tried a lot of 2# test lines out of Europe and Japan. I have some I am using now out of Japan that is made by Varivas. It is a "true" 2# test...meaning that's where it will break. Most US market 2# test line breaks higher than the 2# rating. I love the Japanese lines but the cost will keep me from going through too much of them as I change line often. The SOS line has a much higher breaking strength...more stretch. I usually don't fish on weekends but went yesterday for a little while and was fishing around milfoil. Had I been using the thinner diameter Japanese line I would have never landed this fish. He got me into the milfoil but I was able to work him out using the SOS line....it is just a stronger tougher line. But the casting distance on those very thin diameter Japanese lines is great.

Thanks....you know every part of the country has Gills of different size. What I am catching is nothing compared to what they have in Lake Perris and in Lake Havasu. There are a couple of lakes I fish that are full of 6-7 inch Gills....but they are very chunky. Many times I fish those lakes using 1# test NanoFil line and have a ball.
