I've caught redbreast for as long as I can remember but that has to be the biggest one I have ever seen. What did you catch him on?
    Birddog,

I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

Those redbreast are some pretty fish. Especially those with that distinctive humps on their heads. I've caught a ton (figure of speech) of 3/4 lbers but I'm still looking for my first 1 lb. bream. Congrats on a real trophy.

I have not caught a one pounder yet, but I have caught a few that were very close. Now I have seen a couple that were no doubt a pound or better in some of the South Georgia rivers. Especially when they are on the beds. I also can't wait for spring. I'm glad we've been getting the rain though. They really need that highwater to grow and feed. River fishing around here got pretty dismal this past fall with the drought.

Slab Slayer do you ever fish the Satilla or the Canoochee for rooster reds. What do you like in the way of Beetle Spins type baits. I hear Flip R's and Spin Dandies are really good down that way. Any weight or color preference?

I really like the spin dandies. I like ther crawfish color, and the black and yellow. They will murder them in the Ogeechee. Never been to the Satilla, or Canoochee.

The State Record in NC came from a small black water stream below my house. It was 1lb12oz. We catch them mostly on beetle spins, and live crickets, during real warm weather can catch them on popping bug.
