The top picture is the same as the female Red Ears we get here in west Illinois. The females here have ear flaps ranging from orange to almost no color. The bottom one is also typical ,but of a bull bluegill.

MonteSS .... there is some orange coloration on the lobe of the fish in the first picture. That orange denotes a female Redear, according to biologists, with the red lobe coloration reserved for the males of the species.
As to the red on the lobe of the Bluegill in the second picture ... it could have been from some shenanigans in the family tree, or it could just be an anomaly.

The bottom fish looks exactly like a bluegill except for that small bit of coloring on the ear tab which indicates a small bit of another species being bred into it somewhere down the line.
