    Default Hybrid

I fished on Ouachita yesterday and a male Redear I caught looks like it maybe crossed with Bluegill ? He weighed 14 oz but colorationd makes me think it's not full Redear.

Breast coloration on that redear makes me think its a female.

I mount a lot of redears and it is amazing how many different patterns you can find on them in both photos and real life. I always hope the client has a photo of the redear right after it is caught so i can match the patterns with my paint.

The Redear was a female, the Hybrid was a male. From what I read and two different state fisheries biologist told me , nearly all hybrids are male. They said it was common to find hybrids.

Hey Nimrod, I been catching ALOT of gills tht look like that one. There are redear in Bearskin lake, but not that many. And I catch a few when depopulating bluegill beds.
