It can get confusing due to local culture using a particular a name. The Florida Fish folks list a local name "goggle eye" under their official name "warmouth" .

    See:
FWC - Freshwater Fish Identification Warmouth

There is a considerable difference between Red ear sunfish( locally a shellcracker) and a Warmouth (goggle eye) When I lived in Louisiana we calle dthem goggle eye. Here is my part of Florida it's both warmouth and goggle eye.

Both red ear sunfish and warmouth seem to like worms best. Here it is not unusual to catch a lot of goggle eye when bass fishing with plastic worms. If the worm is very long they have a habit of biting the tail off. They will bite crickets buy my experience is worms is their favorite.

I would have to lean more toward the green sunfish or the hybrid green/warmouth, but hard to say for sure without better pictures.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D
